Continuous Improvement

Just as life evolves, you and I evolve.  We learn, we grow, we adapt, we change, we improve, we hurt, we heal…and then some.  Each day is like a new canvas to paint a picture and even if you make a mistake with your brush you can edit and make changes as you go along.  Life imitates art in that way, they both are works in progress and so are we.

Whatever task lies ahead of you this year, plan to move FORWARD.

F – finalize your goals.

O – order your plans.

R – risk failing (or succeeding) by taking action.

W – welcome mistakes.

A – advance at every stage.

R – reevaluate your progress continually.

D – develop new strategies as you go.

Adapted from Failing Forward by John C. Maxwell

HIS Goal

His goal is not to make you happy.  His goal is to make you his.  His goal is not to get you what you want; it is to get you what you need. – Max Lucado

When I first read this quote, I was so moved by it and I am still.  God wants us to belong to him.  How amazing is that!  In doing so, we experience joy and peace.  God wants to grow us up, challenge our way of thinking and behaving, to become less selfish and more selfless and grow more in Christ.  Of course it’s not easy but in the long run it’s worth it.

Rest Assured

God is at work in you enabling you both to will and work for his good pleasure.

It’s good to know that I’m not striving to do my best on my own.  It’s good to know that God is advocating on my behalf, that he’s on the sidelines cheering me on,  giving me words of encouragement for me to keep pushing, keep fighting, and to keep going.

Fear & Love

“There are two basic motivating forces:  fear and love.  When we are afraid, we pull back from life.  When we are in love, we open to all that life has to offer with passion, excitement, and acceptance.  We need to learn to love ourselves first, in all our glory and our imperfections.  If we cannot love ourselves, we cannot fully open to our ability to love others or our potential to create.  Evolution and all hopes for a better world rest in the fearlessness and open-heared vision of people who embrace life.” – John Lennon
